If you were at Christmas in July on the weekend, you would have been lucky enough to hear Mike Coen talk about his desire to walk the Camino Trail to raise money for Meg’s. You can follow him on his journey on Facebook or on his blog, and if you would love to throw some coin his way, all the details are on our page here. We wish Mike all the best, and can’t wait to hear a few tales when he returns.
After attending a Meg’s for March event last year, Mike Coen has committed to walk the Camino, or ‘The Way of St James’ in support of Meg’s. That is over 900km and he wants to raise $100,000 in the process. You can follow him on his adventure on his blog here and his Facebook page here.
From Mike’s blog-
“For me there are three phases in life.
The first was from my infancy to when I left the safety and security of the family home. This was a time full of love, of nurturing and a time of learning and preparation.
The second was when I set out to forge my own way in the world. Where I walked into the unknown full of enthusiasm and excitement for what lay ahead. A phase where I eventually put down roots, built a career, raised a family, turned houses into homes and accumulated possessions and memories. A time where I sometimes lived on the edge with adrenaline pumping, achieving goals as the milestones raced by. All the time becoming more and more “comfortable” and probably a little complacent and less driven.
Having done all that, having raised three wonderful men, having built a successful and rewarding career, having accumulated a mountain of “stuff”, I found myself in phase three of my life… The “what’s next?” phase and feeling a little vulnerable. So I decided to start it all again! Be less comfortable, look for and set the next challenge, regain that enthusiasm for life and maybe once again live on the edge a little.”
